Narrative
Three women in an apartment in Marseille are affected by a heatwave. Temperatures are rising in the South of France, the air is boiling in Marseille, people are advised to stay at home and enjoy each other’s company.
The evening is on the balcony and they will never stop
However, Denise has had enough of the company of her abusive husband who is constantly hungry and she stabs him with a hoe and then strangles him on her balcony. This is how the story starts, but Dennis is not the main character: the story revolves around three young women, Nicole, Ruby and Elise, who decide to get together with Nicole for a while.
This film is Noémie Merlant’s directorial debut and she succeeds with a bang
She is not afraid to combine all the available genres of films such as adventure, romance, thriller, drama, comedy, etc. in one.
To make her message very clear
But she doesn’t seem to care about what is dear to her heart. As she says, no, scream, scream, scream: many women are blamed daily for rape, violence, humiliation, persecution and victims who are usually their lovers, husbands or neighbors.
Bravo Noémie!
Noémie doesn’t want them to go unscathed, and her crazy characters don’t want them to find their liberation either, and they don’t care what the price is. A stunning, raw, graphic and very convincing debut.
