Miami, 1991. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to channel his inner darkness as he goes from apprentice to vengeful serial killer under the tutelage of his father, Harry. Dexter shares the same birthday as Michael S. Hall, February 1, 1971. In episode 4, Blockbuster employee Deb and her boyfriend meet while wearing navy blue short-sleeved shirts as part of their uniform. In 1991, employees wore light blue long-sleeved shirts. Short sleeves didn’t start coming out until 4-5 years later. It’s followed by Dexter: Resurrection (2025). I went into this with pretty low expectations and was mostly just excited about Resurrection. The beginning of the first episode was a bit of a letdown with the editing and the CGI police car, and I thought, “Oh my god, this is not going to work.” I was ate crow by the end of the first episode because the actors were so good at portraying their characters and the story was so promising. Even though we already know most of the story, there were a few surprises in the first episode that added depth to some of the characters we’ve come to know and love, and added to the decisions those characters made. Just one episode and I was hooked!
