Narrative
Miami, 1991
When his bloodthirsty desires can no longer be ignored, young Dexter Morgan must learn to channel his inner darkness as he transitions from high school student to avenging serial killer with the guidance of his father, Harry. Christian Slater is older than James Remar was when Dexter (2006) first aired. Followed by Dexter: Resurrection (2025). I am a huge Dexter fan, through and through.
Like Harry (according to Dexter), change doesn’t come easily to me
Dexter (seasons 1-8) is the only series I rewatch all the time. So when Dexter: New Blood came out, at first the change of setting, the coldness, the absence of some beloved cast members, and the lack of humor and Latin music were a huge disappointment to me. However, after watching it as a standalone series (no comparisons to the original), it grew on me. Now, with this new series, we’re obviously not used to the new faces in the cast.
Yes, we all wish that Michael C
We all remember the young Dexter, Deb, and Harry looking different, even Laura Moser. However, I think it might be unfair to judge the casting since we’re not in the shoes of the casting directors and producers. I think they had to consider a lot more than just similar looks. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, James Remar, and the rest of the original cast could magically play younger versions of their own characters, but time only goes one way.
(Bonus: I really like Christian Slater
He’s amazing as always!) So far, after watching the first episode twice, I’m enjoying it. I think everyone did a pretty decent job filling Dexter’s big shoes. I can’t deny the fact that I’m now even more excited to watch Dexter: Resurrection after catching a glimpse of Dexter being revived in the emergency room. All in all, I think this series is great and will probably grow on me even more over time.
I think you’ll enjoy it!
