Fire, but feeling his age and illness, ailing director Leonard Fyfe (Richard Gere) wants to tell the story of his life without filters, before it’s too late. As a director of documentary exposés, he has something to be proud of, but his avoidance of the Vietnam War project and his past relationships hide an unpleasant truth. Finally, determined to reveal the truth and lies in his life and career, Leonard participates in an extended video interview with his former student Malcolm (Michael Imperioli), asking true stories about himself in his youth (Jacob Elordi) in the 1960s and later. . At Leonard’s insistence, his wife and indispensable partner Emma (Uma Thurman) overhears all this. Leonard’s success is overshadowed by his failures (the facts contrast), and when a person is completely cleansed of myths, Leonard has to confront what is left.
