Enhancing IT Infrastructure: Affix Center’s Network Design and Audit for Client

Introduction

In this case study, we will explore how Affix Center seized the opportunity to provide IT manpower placement services for a client. The project commenced in 2015 when the client’s office was situated in Mahim, Mumbai. Affix Center was tasked with assessing and enhancing the client’s IT network infrastructure through a comprehensive audit and designing a robust network architecture.

Initial Engagement and Audit Requirements

Upon entering the client’s organization, Affix Center connected with a representative who provided an overview of the network structure. Additionally, the client requested a submission of the current IT audit reports. The audit reports were to encompass all devices connected to the network, identifying whether they were in active use or not. The client’s existing infrastructure comprised a Firewall, Network-Attached Storage (NAS), Dedicated Servers, workstations (laptops and desktops), wireless dongles, and security systems such as access control, CCTV cameras, and switches. The firewall was equipped with two internet lines for enhanced connectivity.

Commencing the IT Audit and Network Design

To initiate the project, Affix Center began with a comprehensive IT audit to evaluate the client’s network infrastructure. The first step involved designing the entire IT network for the organization, considering its connectivity from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to the various devices within the network. The network design encompassed the path from the ISP to the firewall, firewall to the switch, and from the switch to the Wi-Fi router, security devices, and workstations.

Network Infrastructure Design

Affix Center focused on ensuring a robust and efficient network infrastructure. The design included:
  • Connectivity from ISP to Firewall: Affix Center assessed the client’s existing connection from the ISP to the firewall, ensuring seamless and secure internet connectivity.
  • Firewall to Switch: The network design incorporated a reliable and high-performance switch to facilitate smooth data flow between the firewall and other network devices.
  • Switch to Wi-Fi Router: Affix Center designed the network architecture to provide wireless connectivity through a Wi-Fi router, allowing for seamless connectivity within the office premises.
  • Security Device Integration: The network design included the integration of security devices such as access control systems, CCTV cameras, and switches to ensure comprehensive network security.
  • Workstation Connectivity: Affix Center ensured that all workstations, including laptops and desktops, were appropriately connected to the network, enabling efficient communication and data exchange.

Ensuring Network Performance and Security

Throughout the network design process, Affix Center prioritized performance and security. The goal was to optimize network efficiency and safeguard the client’s data and infrastructure. By incorporating best practices and industry standards, Affix Center aimed to enhance the overall network experience for the client’s organization.

Conclusion

Affix Center’s engagement with the client encompassed an IT audit and network design to enhance the organization’s IT infrastructure. By thoroughly assessing the existing network and meticulously planning the network architecture, Affix Center aimed to optimize connectivity, performance, and security. The successful implementation of these initiatives would lay the foundation for a robust and efficient IT network infrastructure for the client.
